The Jefferson RAGBRAI® committee invites the public to the Greene County farmers market Tuesday, June 26, for a special RAGBRAI “block party” edition of the weekly event. With RAGBRAI approaching quickly, the committee wants to energize the community while also supporting the local farmers market. To that end, the committee has invited Taylor King to perform on the courthouse grounds for the duration of the event, 4 to 6:30 pm.
King, originally from Churdan, is a singer/songwriter/guitarist who was featured in Jefferson RAGBRAI’s theme reveal music video along with two other Greene County natives, Tyler Gathercoal and Parker Willis, in April.
“I had a lot of fun working with Tyler and parker for the RAGBRAI music video and saw this as another opportunity to come home and share my music,” King said.
Attendees of the farmers market are encouraged to stop at Jefferson RAGBRAI’s table to learn more about volunteer opportunities, housing RAGBRAI riders, and get answers to general questions about RAGRAI’s July 23 overnight stop in Jefferson.
“We know people have questions about RAGBRAI’s stop here in Jefferson and we, as a committee, are counting on community involvement,” said Phil Heisterkamp, a RAGBRAI executive co-chair. “We saw this as a great way to reach people and support the farmers market, so we invited Taylor to help get people excited for a rockin’ good time at RAGBRAI.”
The Jefferson RAGBRAI committee will also be selling official “Highway to Bells” (Jefferson’s RAGBRAI theme) T-shirts for $20. Those unable to attend the event can purchase T-shirts at www.jeffersonRAGBRAI.com or at ShineOn Designs on the north side of the downtown square. Volunteer information and forms are also available on the website.
